Sonific signs up Nettwerk Music Group, launches SongSpots Music Widgets for Barenaked Ladies and other Nettwerk artists

Sonific LLC and Nettwerk Music Group today announced a new partnership that makes Sonific's free music widgets - called SongSpots(TM) - available to the fans of various Nettwerk artists, including the Barenaked Ladies, The Format, The Be Good Tanyas, and The Submarines. Sonific's SongSpots are customizable, 'copy & paste' flash-players that stream full-length tracks from any web site, blog, photo-site, personal homepage, social network page or any other web-property that allows basic editing by the user.

Using SongSpots, it takes less than 60 seconds for a fan to integrate a piece of music into his own web-page, and thereby become a super-node and viral promotion platform for his favorite artist, while personalizing his own site with the music of his choice, for free. The practice of using flash-based widgets that import content from 3rd party sites has exploded during 2006, and is now becoming increasingly popular on 10s of millions of web-pages. With the release of their first SongSpots that feature a Top-100 artist (The Barenaked Ladies), San Francisco, CA - based www.Sonific.com is positioning itself as the market-leader in fully licensed, music-driven Web2.0 applications. SonificMail: how to send musical greetings via Sonific.com

Sonific launched this cool new feature just recently - you can now send any track from our library to anyone, and add your own message. 

Party invitations, friendly reminders, greetings to friends and family... whatever suits you (well... pretty much;)

Here is how it works:

1) Use the Find SongSpots search engine to find a track you like (here, I am using the featured artists listed under 'Jazz')

2) From the search result list, click on the email button on the right of each track

3) The SonificMail window opens up.  Simply add the recipient's email (yes, you can add up to 5 people) , your name and mail address, and your message. Hit Preview to see what it would look like, or hit 'send'. Done!   Another preview is here

The first song on the Songspot will be by Moodfood. Moodfood has a song with an MLK’s “I have a dream” speech over a groovy tune. The song is called: Spiritual Highness.

I did a similar combination back in college. At Williams, I was a radio DJ, and during my graveyard shift, I once played an old vinyl record of MLK’s speech, “Beyond Vietnam,” over some downtempo beats.

A) To get a flavor of what I did, hit play in the Songspot if you haven’t already, then hit play on the Youtube clip below, so they run concurrently. Notice that you can adjust each volume separately. OR…

B) To get a nice 5:30 minute multimedia presentation, follow these steps (I added this part to SparkBugg, as well):

   1. Press Play on the Youtube clip. Once the red line loads, click towards the end, so there is about 5:30 minutes indicated left.
   2. Then hit the Play button on the Songspot to the right.
   3. Then click HERE, and just take it all in for about 5 minutes..."

We signed a slew of new content deals for Sonific this past few weeks: Nettwerk Records (home of the Barenaked Ladies), IRIS, DRA (The Digital Rights Agency), and State51 in the UK.  This will add another 150.000+ tracks to the Sonific library very shortly; all music will be available for use in our SongSpot widgets and other music apps, for free use in blogs, photo-sites, social networks and personal homepages.  Check it out.  Some latest Songspot links are listed here, btw.
